Events planning student placement

Hello all,

I come seeking advice. My girlfriend is looking for a year's placement in the events planning industry. Her university are arranging interviews with firms that are not geared up to take on someone looking to actually learn about events planning as opposed to packing envolopes or carrying trays (of which she has quite considerable experience).

So - I put the rather open question to you all - does anyone know of any good events planning firms with student placement schemes and does anyone have any advice on how she could get a good placement?
