I know there are a number of people on here with DV and security clearance. When you apply for it you have to answer quite direct questions like "Have you, your family or anyone you know tried to overthrow the government?" :p

I know you technically can be refused but I don't know anyone who has, so my question is have you ever been refused clearance? On what grounds did they refuse you? Did you try and overthrow the government? Was it your mum? :D

My Sister got refused something as her birth place was wrongly inputed as "Barking, United Arab Emirates" which didn't match her passport etc.. Naturally it was "Barking, UK".

The only answer to "Have you, your family or anyone you know tried to overthrow the government?" Should be.... "Not yet."

Nope, I sailed through mine and have access to some interesting stuff from both this and a past job. However, I didn't answer in the afirmative the question "Are you a pinko"..

DV clearance they try and ask you about gay experiences and what pr0n you look at on the internet apparently :p

I quite liked "Are you or ever have you been a member of a terrorist organisation" for SC...

I mean who is going to answer "yes" to that?!!

I'd like to try and overthrow the Government, does that count?

As for Internet Porn...hmmm Donkey sex may cause my application to fail.

You'd be suprised. What pornography people look at offers a window to their fetishes and hence psyche (I'll be damned if I can spell that).

its more just to do with whether you'd be susceptable to blackmail i reckon. The question of "do you look at porn" to a guy is a no-brainer. The real one is whether you subscribe to any as then people will have your details (through payment plan) and could lead to a case of blackmailing..... of course that would be if i cared that people knew a 20-something guy looked at some indecent images :o

When I started work at a local top secret govt establishment in Aldermaston we had to watch some training videos showing just the same sort of thing.. in one of them, a (married) bloke went to London and slept with a prossie.. turns out she worked for the russkies and they blackmailed him into giving away secrets.

Totally hypothetical film but apparently it does happen :)

I'm cleared, never had any problems or know of anyone who is.

I work for BAE Systems (Wooo Astute class submarines) :D

Never had problem getting security cleared. Currently work at a high secure mental hospital with lots of crazy mental patients.

i once tried to organise the buying and sending of copies of "as used on the famous nelson manela" by mark thomas to employees of BAE systems (cause the organisation is a bunch of *****) :)

What's DV clearance?
Developed vetting or defence vetting I think. It's the next one up from the basic security clearance and lets you see 'top secret' rather than 'uk confidential' iirc
