Hi all,

I've never done this before but for peace of mind i usually check vehicles i've purchased to see what work potentially needs to be done (advisories).

I've never used this function before but its quite an interesting read if, like me, most of your advisory notice's have been... 'lost' by previous owners :p

I know it would be a lot of work but i don't know why Test Stations don't look up these kinds of history to see if previous advisory notices have been sorted out!

Very handy when buying a new motor. Everyone should do it, I did when I bought my new motor and it pays dividends should you find something out of the ordinary.

Always useful to be able to check up on a car before buying, when they kick off that you can't have the MOT number you know something isn't right (or they're a moron)

That said, my cars MOT history shows where some bugger cut 330k off the clocks....

I have every one of my MOT's for my new motor and Advisory sheets where applicable, I will get around to reading them soon lol, last MOT said advisory was a nail in rear tyre...but last owner could not find a nail and neither can I.

Gonna put some fresh back tyres on anyway soon.

But I did use the MOT check on my old Golf before I bought that and thankfully it had a good run of no advisories and straight passes!

Apparently my car was first used in march 2001, but the first mot wasn't done till 2006! and it had done 19000 miles in that time.

Strange.......

No advisorys ever, not bad for a ten year old french hot hatch that is abused daily! :)

I Wish cars had to do an MOT test over here :(

The condition of some the cars on the roads over here is terrible...

Mine unfortunately shows where mine was taken for an MOT with a badly worn tyre (inside edge), on it's first and only MOT (before I owned it).

That said, a failure on a balding tyre isn't exactly the end of the world, not considering the rook of paperwork/invoices I have for every little job the thing has ever had (including trivial things like wiper blades from Audi themselves).

My cars history is a difficult one to track, after purchase it was registered on a Jersey plate and apparently done 20k miles in 5 years (don’t have anything to back this up). In 2006 it was registered back on a uk plate where it was doing about 4k a year and from 2006 to date everything looks fine mileage etc.

I have all of the uk history but none of the Jersey history and the only mot issue has been an advisory this time around for worn rear discs which are slightly pitted. Must admit from new on dec 21st 2001 to 2006 @ 4k a year makes me think the car could well have been clocked but the service book backs up the millage and the specialist in the book confirmed it. Still I am sceptical as I don’t understand why a car would be shipped around so much but meh I guess I will never know the truth.

Keep in mind there are no MOT's in Jersey...
