I'm currently driving a Renaultsport Clio 182, and love it to pieces - it's exactly how I want it at the moment, but since Trax on the weekend I am constantly looking at Nissan Silvia S15's and can't get them out of my head.
After Trax I realised that I needed some sideways actions (always been a fan of drifting but never done it myself, though been in with some BDC drivers).

Anyway, I came up with two plans:

* Keep the 182 and get an MX-5 to drift, seems reasonable, but then has the issue of 2x insurance/tax/mot etc.
* Sack off the 182 and get an S15 - they're about 10k at the moment ranging in spec, and the more I keep looking the more I want one.

The problem is I physically cannot decide what to do, I feel like I'd regret selling the 182 as it's one of the best condition ones I've seen plus it's never had anything go wrong and I know I'd miss it - but I can't have both!

I like the idea of getting an MX-5 just to go drifting in, they're relatively cheap and it will be a good thing to work on, without the worry of binning it (binning a S15 would be truly gutting!) but again I've always wanted an S15 and am in a position to get one.

It's a pretty unorganized rant that I essentially don't have enough money for an S15 with a 182 at the same time, and wondered if anyone else has been in the same position and with what cars out of interest? Oh and the main thing, what would you do?

My impression of drifting is unless you have a big money pot you want to use something thats cheap to get replacement parts and tyres

the only downside is the lack of power... cheap ebay turbo might well be the answer :)

E36 bmw to drift? Something like an M3 Evo :D.

I wouldn't dare drift the S15, they're just so beautiful.

My view is the opposite, then again, Nissans have never been my thing, each to his own & all that.

One thing though, if you have an itch, scratch it! :)

Scratch that itch but be prepared. :) personally I would go straight in with selling the 182 and going with the s15 but then I would never listen to me ;)

This is pretty much what I'm thinking, get an MX-5 or an older S13/14 and then see how it goes, if then I still want to go to the S15 then get one then!
