My car is currently up for sale and I've had an offer that I'll most likely be taking but I just can't help but feel a little reluctant to sell it. I've had it two years and stuck thousands of miles on it. It's been absolutely fantastic, always getting attention and comments and that's something I'm going to miss.
I've certainly never cared about selling previous cars before but I guess this was the first 'performance car' I've owned and its something I purchased when realistically it shouldn't of been possible as I had to work all kinds of hours to save up enough to get it. Ah well, I'm sure the replacement will give my just as many years happiness.

I'm actually in the process of selling our BMW. Have to say that I will miss it, it really is rather good. Just need something that will be a little more economical now.

How come you're getting shot of it?

I've been sad with 2 of my old cars - my first car, although it was only an old 306, I think a lot of people get a bit attached to their first car and I was changing it for a boring Mondeo.

Then the Alfa - was the first interesting car I had, and despite it's flaws, it was difficult not to form an emotional attachment to a car with that much personality, plus I was changing it for a boring Mondeo.

There's a pattern emerging.

Yeah, I was sad when I sold my first car. It was an early wedding present given to me by my terminally ill Grandad. Now I've actually written that, I feel even worse about it! :(

I only usually keep a car two years anyway but the main reason is that I want one final 'mad' car before I have to start settling down with house purchasing and stuff.

I sold the astra after 7 years of ownership having spent a lot of time and energy on it and I actually cried when the guy took it away.:(:( I adored that car. I only got rid of it because I have a company car now and it became surplus to requirements, just a very expensive toy basically.

However, sometimes good things come out of it as the new owner has spent a fortune on respraying it and modding it to his own tastes which is something I could never have justified alongside running a company car.

Fair enough :)

Out of interest, a bit OT, would the engine in your car be more or less the same 2.0T as the Saab B207R in the 9-3 Aero?

I had to sell my car recently owing to the fact I got myself a company car - it's a shame as I loved it, but at the same time it wasn't too hard to say goodbye. The hardest car I had to sell and one I still regret selling was my MX5. :(

i'm giving my car back to the finance company on tuesday as i owe more than it's worth after 4 years and am upgrading...

i've had no end of problems with it over the 4 years but have done over 70k in it and i am sad to see it go :(

I was sad to see my Z4 go, still haven't replaced it with anything decent, kinda lost interest in the whole "car" thing!

Still haven't sold my LCR because part of me doesn't want to see it go. I've not even driven it in months, but still have an attachment to it :(

I was a little bit sad when I sold my Impreza - especially as it was in mint condition. But now I own a mint ITR so it's not all bad. Normally the thrill of getting a new car outweighs the sadness of the old one leaving. Unless, of course, that new car is some 'orrible euro grot-box! :)

I was quite sad to see my Corrado VR6 driven away, right in front of me, leaving me in the middle of Southampton, on foot.

I wasn't so sad to see the VXR go, as the ST was sat right next to it, and I'd been forced to wait too long for it already.

I've not had to sell a car yet but am already attached to mine, especially as its my first car and its a bit special too. I don't think I would sell it, would like to keep it and just build a collection.
