i cba defragmenting :( even though my games take hours to load up :p

also, for when i do come around to it, are there any third party apps that do a better job at degragging?

I've had a 69% fragmented drive before. How much was that one?
Like you I tend to defrag quite infrequently, usually somewhere between every 6months - 3 years.

[ladies only whats the best defrag tool]

On a serious not mate, you can use JKderag which is free I have used this. It does not have a gui but its easy to use and i have herd most companys base there software of JKdefrag.

You can use O&O software which is the best of the paid defrag software. It defrags automatically at any time you set it too. It does the best job I noticed my system became faster with using this than Diskeeper.

Perfectdisk is very good - fairly easy to use, and makes some noticeable differences. Defragments boot files too so the PC starts quicker. Of all the major ones I've used (Perfectdisk, Diskeeper and O&O) this one seems the best.

It's not free, but you do get a 30-day trial which is useful.

well there can be =S depends on how good and system recources etc .... but all do the general job disk keeper or perfect disk either way they work just as good as one another

Yeah true, they all call on the same routines dont they, but I feel that O&O shows you the entire Disk, while others Merely show you a poor display much like the MS effort.

At least with O&O you can see what files are where, what type of files they are, if they are system files, complressed files, the pagefile and so on... the others only give you green and red for used space and fragmented space.

disk keeper and perfect disk yeh pretty much but on perfect disk there are multiple coloers for different things ... not major improvement however youve spiked my interest in o&o i dismissed it before not thinking it showed much improve, memt or did the same job as well ...... im gonna have a good look now

I found a file with over 15,000 fragments yesterday. That's just a bit extreme.

Bookmarked JkDefrag for later research. I've been looking for a 'free' tool for a while as the other options get expensive after one PC.
