Ever seen something no-one else has?

Have you ever seen something and thought to yourself, ‘I bet nobody else has ever seen that happen?’

I reckon I’ve got a few ... some from policing days .... and when I think about them now, I genuinely do think that a couple of them were real one-offs.

I’ll tell one that never ceases to astonish me. I once watched with horror as a car lost its front wheel as it was being driven at a reasonable speed along a fairly narrow road. The wheel spun off, rolled along with some force, bounced against a wall and was redirected back into the road ... where it incredibly re-attached itself to the axle! It obviously wasn’t a proper re-attachment, of course, but it wedged itself firmly enough to enable the driver to keep control until he could stop the vehicle.

One of the few times I stood open-mouthed in amazement!

I was sitting here pondering... Didn't want to be the first to say it.

I guess it isn't beyond reason that it might have got jammed into the wheelarch again, but it definitely didn't "re-attach itself to the axle"

Okay, so re-attach itself is an exaggeration, but I was just trying to get across the fact that the wheel wedged itself almost back into its original position, obviously without being attached, but firmly enough to help the driver stop with less difficulty than might have been expected.

The strange thing is that the driver obviously knew something had happened but thought he had a tyre burst and didn’t know the wheel had come off until he’d stopped!
