hi all, just installed new hs/fan etc and am wanting to keep an eye on the temps ofc.

I have downloaded everest ultimate edition and am wondering how reliable it is??

also, i have a qx6700 and it gives one temp for the whole cpu then one for each core.. the cpu one is at 33 but the individual cores are approx 62 each at low load and 70ish at 100%... is this ok?? or should i reseat it? ive no idea on what temps quad cores should reach ??

many thanks in advance for any help

Everest isn't bad. I find it normally sits a degree or to above coretemp which is better regarded I think.

Quad cores will run hot. I don't know the expected temps for that one in particular.

I use Everest (reporting to my G15 display) and its usually within a degree or so of Core Temp - Example below (with some other software) of my Q6600 @ 3.2GHz

Some of the progs arent the most up to date as i temp to stick with Everest.

60 odd idle seems high to me - what cooling do you have ? Is the chip overclocked ?

A good indicator of temps can be found here

Which, would appear, to show your temps as "safe to warm" ?

Realtemp will report ruffly 5c lower than coretemp as it uses a Tjmax of 95c not 100c.. as to which is correct well I am inclinded to go with realtemps 95c Tjmax after seeing some convinsing evidence over at XS.. also you need to take into account when using software that different version and programs pole at different times.. therefore you can get different readings as one piece of software might have more upto date readings than another

In regards to what everest is reporting.. the CPU temperature is normally a reading from within the socket and therefore tends to be different to the core readings (which are read from the cores in the CPU).. When people talk about CPU temps they are (or should be) reffering to core temps and not socket temp.
