Everest Base Camp trek

It isn't so much about the fitness level, but your tolerance to reduced oxygen concentration, the guided treks don't really go at it that hard as far as fitness goes.

^^^^ this exactly
did annapurna base camp trek... wasn't a fitness issue... but altitude can cause real issues...

Do it.

It's not a difficult trek to base camp 1; however the discomfort from not be able to breathe coupled with around a quarter of your strength can make it tiresome...

As said, it’s not a fitness issue but an altitude issue (a fit person can be affected by altitude more than an unfit person, it really depends on the individual). I’ve been to just under 16k ft in the Andes, my lips and finger nails were purple and I was walking like an ancient old man doing pigeon steps and even that felt exhausting.
