... well hopefuly anyway, there is currently a vote going to see which the next server type will be. It does look like the Progressions server has a very high chance of going ahead, so much so im 90% sure thats what the server type will be. You can only vote if you have an active subscription, the choices popup after logging into the game.

For those that don't know the Progression server type starts with just the initial game and the Kunark expansion enabled. Chars start in the original starter zones and most things are how they were 9 years ago. When certain unlocks occur such as boss kill etc providing its expansion lock timer has expired Velious will be unlocked with all the lands, classes and items etc. Then when when the next expansion is unlocked that will go live and on until its up to date.

This server type is by far my favourite as it gives you a chance to play it in its classic state and then work through the expansions in the way you would have done all those years ago.

Just thought i'd give all you ex eq players a heads up :).

Does one boss kill by a certain guild unlock the expansion for the entire server or just the guild/raiders who killed that boss?

That sounds exactly like the DAOC Origins server. Shame Mythic binned it because they were QQ about the possibility of effecting WOL's player base.

Although, from what I heard, the numbers have increased significantly in the DAOC US Servers recently. 1500 per night on Dyvet alone...it might tempt me back! ;)

There are a number of unlocks per expansion but yes when its done once its done for the whole server. There is a timer too though to stop the uber jobless from racing through it too quickly.

Didn't they already have an EQ server with this ruleset a year or so ago?

I remember being tempted then too.

Yeah a few years back, i played it for a bit but had to stop due to family commitments, now im single i cant wait :D.

That sound tempting but I'm not sure because EQ is way old and I don't know if the graphics are still as dire as before. Gnome Enchanter for the win tho !

The graphics havent improved much at all im afraid. Its all about the gameplay though which im loving at the moment.

Should be EQ1 only without Kunark tbh....

[rosetintedspecs]I miss the spontaneous player auctions in West commons, and that you had to run to Qeynos through multiple dangerous zone making the journey a real adventure.

MORPGs these days all seem to be easy mode get to max level ASAP then rinse repeat the same old raids. Whatever happened to being rewarded for exploring the world and enjoying the journey and lore on the way.[rosetintedspecs]

On Mith Marr it was the square outside the bank in Freeport. It was always jammed with people selling stuff, and of course it was all equipped so you could see what it looked like. You actually got to haggle, do swaps, and publicly ridicule the people looking for silly prices. It was excellent :)

Auction houses are the worst thing that ever happened to mmo's.

On my old server (Cazic Thule) it was the Western Commonlands, in the tunnel. On a Saturday afternoon it was absolute mayhem, but it was fun. The number of people I knew who would sit there for ten hours straight, just trying to make a few plat... very sad but a lot of fun :D

There should be a free day or weekend and give everyone an opportunity to see everquest crowded again like the old days. Everquest Day.

There were people selling stuff in the commons tunnel on the last progression server, really brought back old memories. The bazaar doesnt go in till more expansions are unlocked.
