Been thinking about this and I think we really need a new striker.

Andy Johnson - Has been class for us this season. Really good performaces week in week out when he has played.

James Vaughn and Victor Anichebe - What can you say about these two kids. Great players especially when they both play up front together. They will only get better with experiance and I just hope we can keep hold of them because they are both great talents.

Then we come to the other two.

James Beattie - Who? I know that he has been outclassed by Andy Johnson this season and hasnt played much at all but since he came to the club he hasnt played what he used to. I think he should go.

James McFadden - Never really been a big fan of McFadden though he has scored some pretty good goals this season. I think he has lost his form over the course of the season and I cannot see him getting much action next season with Johnson and the new kids around. I think he should go.

Im not really sure who I would want as a new foward/striker. In an ideal world I would want Dimitar Berbatov he has played insanly good this season.
I think it would have to be some one who Johnson could play along side with easily. Not getting under his feet when he has the ball running at defenders.

What do you guys think?

I am not an Evertonian but apart from AJ Everton is a bit short up front, they have a good potential in that new lad from the youth team (not Fernades but the other black kid who scored last week), except I saw him play about a month ago and his movement was rubbish at best, it was totally non existent. Too much ball watching and waiting for the ball to play at his feet, instead of use his pace and make runs and create chances for himself. If he makes more runs he would score more, his touch wasn't bad.

Beattie, I just dont know why it hasn't worked for him. He was brilliant at Soton. Scoring all over the pitch. He seems to still work hard for no end result. He should have the perfect partnership with AJ but Moyes doesnt like to play them together. It seems at times to be more AJ alone upfront, just to grind out results rather than attacking football.

Beattie wernt that great at Southampton tbh, he was the best of a bad bunch down, he looked better than he actually was, i think he only really averaged 15-16 goals a season?

Whats wrong with 15-16 goals a season? Not like he had the service a team like Man United or Arsenal gives their forwards is it?

He was actually very impressive at Southampton, hence him getting called up to the England squad. Had he been given a bit more of a chance than a few sub appearances and one start then we have may seen a little bit more of what he is capable of.

But you know, he played for a crap team so he can't be that good eh.

Thats impressive at southampton. Owen NEVER scored 20 league goals.

I could see Darren Bent (hey, you can take Marcus back for free if you want!) going to a club like Everton, not sure if he would compliment AJ but I imagine he would be a player a club like Everton would look at in the summer. Along with Tottenham / Villa / Newcastle and West Ham if they stay up, especially after being knocked back with their £16million bid in January.

Everton are trying it seems to buy Nugent from Preston. Might work well with AJ. Ive not been that impressed with AJ to be honest. Hopefully one of the kids will come along leaps and bounds to make a nice wedge from Manu :(

Beattie was average apart from 2 season i think. Waste of space really, he's had his day so to speak and we wont see him do anything like that again.

I think it's the manager buying a player when the team aren't even going to play to a style that suits his play. Pointless really. I like Beattie I think he never really got a look in, he works hard. I dont think he really had long enough in a pairing to see if it would work. More AJ as a lone striker and try to smother teams in midfield. If we had a better midfield we perhaps could properly play two front men and have some success?

McFadden has never lived upto his potential until he pulls a scotland shirt on.

I'd like to see us ship Beattie out and get Nugent in. Beattie just hasn't got going for us really. I'm sure Nugent could make the step up to the premiership and he's a massive Evertonian.

Apart from that we're actually ok up front I think. Vaughan and Anichibe both look to be developing nicely and McFadden has even managed to look alright at times! Compare the number of goals scored this season to last season, or even the season before that

Beattie has never really done himself any favours though. From the day he first arrived he's spent more time injured or suspended than he has on the pitch. This season he's looked awful. He works hard but he just seems to have lost everything about him that made him a decent forward. Hopefull Strachan will want him back :p

We will be lucky to get £10million for him I reckon, probably about £8million -£9million would be my guess, shouldnt be too difficult for a club like Everton, especially with the new TV deal money etc.

I have a feeling Moyes doesn't want to blow that much cash on one player. Assuming this years Euro adventure is longer than our last one (shush) we'll seriously need to increase the depth in our squad. At times this season the squad has picked itself as we've only had about 13 players available :/

I been very pleased with team this season, i totally agree we definetly need a new striker as beattie isn't good at all he always looks tired for a start and not fit.

Anichebe/Vaughn are wonderful players, very fast, decent dribblers and can hit the ball quite well usually.(victor is a big lad too and strong in the air it seems)

I think it would be better if we stick Cahill in a striker role as he's a very attacking player, he's good goalscorerer too just a shame he had 2 horrid injuries this season since he is one of our best players. If this did happen then we can use fernandes more aswell who has been good this season even though he hasn't had much chance to prove himself.
