Every dad's duty

i did it in a dolly when i were a kid, i've also sat my 3 y.o son on my knee and let him steer mine in a large empty carpark :)

When I was about 8/9 I went with my dad to a Range Rover jumble (lots of spare parts etc) it was in a massive field as were the car parks, I don't remember exactly where we were (there were no cars around) but he let me have a go in the driving seat then (our old range rover) :D I just remember kangarooing and stalling the thing every time :o

My dad stopped his Renault (2.5litre turbo) Alpine in a country lane, and got out, and said "your turn". I think i was 15 or so. That was fun! Only drove it for about a mile, but it was fun!

My grandparents live on a private road in the middle of a golf course, and I would regulary sit on my dad's knee and steer my way to the main road when I was a nipper. I would also control the gear stick for him sometimes when we were driving about on normal roads (my mum let me do this too!). As I got older (12+), I would often drive the 1.5 miles of private road on my own with him sat next to me.

Dad's company Impreza STi that had been ProDrive'd . Then Dad's company Accord (VTEC y0!).

First car that I drove that actually belonged to the 'rents was Mum's Clio. I might have, ahem, stuffed it through the garage door :(.

My mother lives on a marina and the road leading to it is about half a mile. I let my daughter 8 drive my Jeep up and down. Its auto so all she has to do is steer. Alway have one foot covering the brake just in case.

Get them started young so when its driving lessons time you don't have to re-mortgage :)

I remember going around an industrial estate with my Dad in a old escort van in the late 80's about 5 or 6 years old.
