So it has finally come to the PS3 and I'm finding myself thinking about buying it, however when I think about it I'm also asking myself why. The reason I'm thinking of buying it is more to do with the good reviews it has received and peoples opinions of it on this board, I rarely hear a bad word said about it. But if I stop and think about it my underlying thought is "but it's just a golf game" and I can imagine getting very bored very quickly. I need some justification for parting company with 35 notes!

Is there more to this game I don't know about? Why is it so popular? Sell it to me... !

Look at the thread on this forum and see how quickly everyone got bored of it and pretty much stopped playing and arranging games.

If your a golf fan then imo it's by far the best golf game currently available on any of the next gen consoles.

It may look all cutesy but underneath it plays and feels pretty much perfect, as the control mechanics are spot on.

Although it's fairly easy to master in single player, there are plenty of unlockable items/characters, new downloadable courses and online it is far more challenging.

As a primary 360 gamer, you may find it hard to believe that people with a ps3 still play games after the initial hype has worn off.

I know on the 360 it is a case of, rent/buy game cane the achievement points, beg people to play online via forums threads so you can get the online achievements then return/sell the game as quickly as possible. (Exclude COD4 and HALO 3 and this is more or less the pattern anyone with a gamerscore over 20k follows I think, on these forums at least :) )

Try to think back to the days before these points ruined your life and recall that you actually kept hold of games, and went back to them every now and then regardless of points and who was playing online.

I still play EG every now and then as I still haven't completed the single player mode (shock horror I am going to complete it even though there are no "points" for doing so!). Even though I have MGS4 and a load of other better games I still pop back to Golf just to try to complete it.

To OP, great game if you like golf games tbh, as someone else said there is plenty to do in the game and it is quite deep once you get over the cute graphics. Only next gen golf game I played is TW 2007 and this is much better.

I don't do the online thing anymore, but having picked it up again recently.

Only game I wanted to do that with in my collection atm. COD4 single player annoys me, especially as I tried it again and couldn't do the mission where you get attacked after sniping that guy from miles away.

Really must practise more.

Awesome game and unlocked a new course, very very windy. It's an easy game to ickup but a bit hard than you think to master. Actually more realistic than tiger woods in my eyes, except for the fire on the green after backspin :D:D

By the way, a demo was released on PSN this week for the game (definitely in the USA, not sure if it is on euro store). You can try that out if you are unsure.

Back when I got my PSP, I also got Everybody's Golf as a gift. I've tried playing a dozen other games on the PSP, but always come back to that - which is surprising because I never thought I'd like a golf game so much. This is the primary reason I bought the game for the PS3 :)

I have to say though, it may not be worth picking up now that the buzz in the forum has gone. We had some great times.. and then GTA4 came out I believe. (What I mean is that there's a lot of bigger titles on proper consoles out; the game may do well on the handheld but there's a lot of other fun games on the proper consoles).

I think there's a few things that make this golf game great:
The cheerful art style and the ease of play (yet you still have to have a decent sense of angle, etc); Also you progress through many different kinds of locales unlike most real-life and even game golf.

I dont do that for points, I do it for money. You see I'm a *****, I hate losing too much money. Even if I won the lottery I would still flog my games when i'm done.

I have 9 days online time accumulated on COD4, no points involved. My most played game is GRAW followed by PES06, no points involved. Follow that with the Guitar hero games, no points involved because i'm not good enough to get any :D

Besides I never think this forum is a good indication of the game playing public because regardless of the format people here buy stacks of games and hammer them out. Few games stay played for very long.

Even before these points as you put it ruined my life, I never really revisited many games. I dont think the difference is the points the difference is there are so many good ways of selling on games now which you didnt have in the days of the psone. You either traded them in for a big hit or used the free-ads.

With tools like the MM, ebay and various other online selling methods you can lose a £5 these days on a game that you used to lose atleast half value on. Thats why games are caned and sold.

Yeah I was gonna try the demo first. Can't say I've been convinced so far, pretty much confirmed my initial thoughts. I wouldn't mind another shooter in the COD4 mould mind, any suggestions?

It is a brilliant game, it's the only thing (excluding blu-ray) that makes me turn my ps3 on.

I hate golf but it is incredibly addictive and challenging on the later courses
