i have so far owned a BFG 285 and now have a EVGA 295 im am just a little concerned that the BFG 285 was faster and more responsive in windows for general use than my current 295. everything seems slower.

when i install things they seem to hang for a while to on even simple things.

i originally sent my 285 back as it was faulty.

anyone have any idea why this is?

will give it a try this evening thx Racer, but it is other things to not just that, the speed is my main concern but when you spend 2k + on a computer it has to work right right?.

when i opened the box the first thing i noticed was with the frame where the screws went, it was bent completely (have photos to prove it), would not even fit with my mother board. Bits of small lose black plastic were with the card & the stickers where parting from the glue already, as if it had been handled quite a lot. yep i can live with this but is still concerning that this was stamped EVGA Quality Assured passed!

if these drivers do not work this evening i will give OCUK tech support a call and see what they say.

Check your PSU is up to scratch too, the 295 uses more juice than the 260 as i'm sure you're aware. What PSU do you have?

Does the 295 game ok?

it games ok (maybe not as smooth as the 285 but then its all set to very high now in crysis)...and i have a brand new 850 watt Be Quite PSU... i had a 285 not a 260 before btw.

Oh yeah, 285 sorry.

Strange one, driver reinstall may sort it out, otherwise the only real way to eliminate a software problem would be to try it on a fresh install of windows and go from there. At least then you don't have the chance of sending a workng card back, for which they will charge.

i hope it is just the drivers, i dont enjoy sending things back believe me, cost me £10 in postage each time and is a huge amount of hasstle.
i am just amazed at how bad things are getting with QA of graphics cards... its all about profit & how fast we can churn out the next killer card these days, not about checking the end product and the pipeline is functioning correctly and reaches us the way it should.

its pretty sad, so for those who cut corners, they should expect some faulty ones back

its just some of use keep drawing the short straws.

You're definitely not alone, the failure rate is very high, especially from the GTX series of cards, they're nowhere near as reliable as the 8800 series was, and ATI seem better again atm.

well i have updated to the drivers, things seem better, but will keep evaluating it and will see how it goes. still think my BFG 285 was way more responsive and quicker in windows, i guess this could be that the drivers for 2 core GPUs are still a WIP?
