Hi I'm after some advice about using a Tuniq Tower with a EVGA 680i.

Ive seen some pictures of the TT protruding from the top of the mobo which means it wont fit in some PC cases. If anyone is using this combination could you post here what case you are using please?

Another issue is the backplate of the TT crushing some resistors on the back of the mobo, though i have heard that the TT has padding available to avoid this, can anyone confirm?

I need a case that will accept the 680i, TT and 8800GTX, any recommendations would be appreciated.

Cheers ^_^

Hi and welcome to the forums Arrakis :)

I am looking at the same setup as yourself and have decided upon the Akasa Eclipse 62, seems to be quite a popular choice of case.

Hi there,

I myself have an EVGA 680i and a Tuniq Tower. The case I'm using is an Antec 900 and while I haven't built many PCs, i'd say it's quite a tight fit but it *will* go in for sure. It sits approx 3-4mm away from the side of the tower.

So.. the only case I can recommend to you is an Antec 900.

About crushing resistors.. I don't know. When I put on the backplate, it stuck on very easily when I pushed it gently.

I have a 8800GTS and it fits easily, but my friend who almost has the exact same PC as me has a GTX and I think he had to remove the extra fan clip next to the middle hard drive cage to get it to fit. But that's not a problem as it's easily clipped in and out. But he got the GTX in pretty easily once that was removed.

1 thing I will say and it was probably my biggest problem - Tagan PSUs have very chunky cables which aren't really that flexible. It was an absolute nightmare getting all those cables in a position so that they didn't block air flow and such.

Hope this helps,

Nish

I used the EVGA 680i and a Tuniq Tower in a Lian Li PC-60 case without any problems, the PC Case needs to be over 19cms wide, see Here :)

Tuniq Tower, EVGA 680i and an Antec P180, fits but the 12V 8pin connector is an absolute nightmare to get on once the boards fitted in the case.

What PSU are you using Arcane?

My current one is 650W but its pretty old and the cables aint too long either, im prolly gonna have to invest in a new one when I get paid

is your PC-60 the plus version with the removable motherboard tray

Could you install the tuniq tower and still slide the tray in and out or was it too high

I'm using the Enermax Galaxy 850W, it won't fit the P180 without drilling out the fan mount/divider in the lower compartment, even then it's not exactly roomy. The PSU's nice though, plenty of grunt (and modular), but a bit of a squeeze in some of the smaller cases.

Coolermaster stacker 830 fit`s fine but you have to remove the side fan panel, dont worry about crushing them things on the back of the motherboard as the tower bracket fits fine.

Demon[KcsF] have u tried your setup in the Akasa Eclipse 62? I'm thinking of getting it but i want to be 100% sure ;P

Not yet Arrakis, I have not had time to order the build yet, far to busy with work and my business I am setting up :(

Will post back when I eventually get round to doing it though.

With the mobo, yep ... with the Akasa Eclipse 62 .... hmmm I hope so :o
The top of the cooler once mounted is going to be close to the PSU Housing, how close remains to be seen :p

Just to be clear I didn't mean the TT hitting the side panel of the case, i meant the top of the case where the PSU is usually housed.

Aye thats what I meant too, mind you it looks like oc are slipping, I placed the order last night and it ain't despatched ... not happy about that :(
