Ok from some research I think the EVGA 770 SC ACX is the card im going to grab before it drops off this week only.

I understand that my 550W Corsair HX from about 7 years ago will be right on the line for this card with a 3570k running at 4.4ghz so maybe I will have to upgrade my PSU as well (thinking corsair HX again prob 750w).

Has anyone tried running a 770 on a 550w PSU?

With that extra power headspace i theory i could leave my old 560ti in the case as a physx card. How much load would i be taking off my 770 if i did?

In games that use it (Planetside 2, Borderlands 2 currently on my list) goes taking that extra load off the GPU help?

I know i'll be eating up a few extra watts of power but other than that any downside?

I have run an overclocked GTX 480 with an i5 2500k at 4.4 ghz on a 620w HX for two years with zero problems.

Im sure your psu will be more than enough.

I'm been running a GTX680 (basically the same as the GTX770) on a 10 year-old Enermax 620W PSU for a year with no problems.

Spec says 600W min, im under that before you start taking ageing caps into acount and im planning on overclocking as well obviously so 550 is going to be pushing it.

Nobody got any xp of running a older gpu as a physx processor?

I could do with clear answer on the physx part as well, the this week only with expire soon so i need to get my order in.

Maybe i should order a PSU (just spotted the OCZ 850 on this week only as well) and leave it in the box till i know if i need it, returning under OCUKs returns policy if i dont. I dont like doing that (postage on a PSU aint cheap for a start its like posting a brick).
If i do need it then i can try the physx only from the 560ti as well.

Cant belive a cant find any good benchmarks for Physx dedicated cards that arent back from agiea days. i was sure i'd find a borderlands 2 with and without.

Your PSU is more than enough, an overclocked 3770k with no overclocking on the gpu will use a max of 250w in real world situations. Stress testing the gpu + cpu at the same will push it closer to 300w.

I honestly wouldn't worry about using a dedicated card for physx with the 770. I have a 680 and have no problems running physx on that same card.

Looks like you guys were bang on, Running at a quick +75mhz Core +350mhz Mem and its running fine in BF3/Planestide and the witcher 2.

7 years on my corsair HX keeps on ticking oldest thing in my PC by far now.

Very happy with the EVGA as well quiet even under load doesnt get hot at all looks to have some good OC potential.

Well done OCUK on usual good service and thanks for not giving me haribo lastime you got me a *******ing of the wife for eating them.

I was expecting a "how much have you wasted on that dam computer" and i got "theres no sweets in there is there?"
