I bought a EVGA 8800 GTS 512MB from OcUK over 6 years ago, was my main gaming card for a few years before I built another system but this has been in use in another PC.

It died a couple of nights ago and I remembered it had a 10 year warranty, and I did register it when I bought it (result!). I've had the RMA approved but obviously I won't get a 8800 GTS 512MB back (unless they have a massive shed of them somewhere), so what am I likely to receive back and will it be better than the HD 7850 I have in my main gaming PC?

Would absolutely kick my self if you got something proper decent back! I had a EVGA 8800 GTS 640mb or something like that which died few years ago and I just binned it, never been bothered with rma'ing stuff im too lazy. haha

Hello there

Did you say you RMA'd this back to us here at OcUK?

If so do you have your order number or RMA number?

Thanks

Bailey

Thanks for the update

Just out of interest can you let me know what you get in return for this RMA?

I am quite intrigued on this one

Thanks

Bailey

No, as it was 6 years old I went direct to EVGA.

No idea what an 8800 GTS is equivalent to now, but I suspect they will give a 7 series of some sort, 750/750Ti be nice and if they offer 760 or higher snatch their hand off as the 760 I'd imagine is a good deal quicker.

I think quite a lot of us are to be honest. :)

Well looking at Anandtec 2012 bench a 640 is just faster, so anything above that is going to be much much better.

Sometimes in these cases you merely get the depreciated equivalent value of the item returned.

Sandisk did this with me for an SSD that died after 13 months, as they had no more of the same model available.

Hi Bryan,

We try to replace with the same part number if possible and if not an equal or greater performing product and we do not replace it based by value. Our RMA Department's inventory changes daily so we would not know what it will be replaced with until the replacement is being pulled to be shipped back. Once the card is received and checked in we will ship out the replacement in 1~3 business days.

You can see the RMA status here and it is updated Monday~Friday.

Regards,
EVGA

Which is fair enough, they only have to give me something that is as good as what I sent back. I'll know in a few days anyway.
