Because we are picking up cheap 280's, say we spend 100 less on our card now, does that mean we have to fork out 100 more than people who paid full price to step up to the next card? or does it not work like that?

Still debating whether to send my card back to OcUK or not.

Cheers,

G

I would have guessed it works on the RRP of the card, so both values will be above what anyone sensible would buy them for, so I wouldn't worry too much. It seems unfair that because you shopped around you'd have to pay more to step up.

They take in to account whatever price you paid for the card, then deduct that of the card you want to upgrade to, in EVGA Europe's case its a complete rip-off as you have to go by their RRP and its extortionate.

It was bad enough when the pound was strong against the dollar but with the current exchange rate the step up deal is almost worthless to us in the UK.

I've always thought step up programs were a bit of a gimmick to be honest. If you want to stay on the cutting edge then just sell your old hardware and buy new.

Sounds like a waste of time then, you're better off sticking it on an auction site with some pretty pictures and buying a new card from OCUK. Still, i'm hanging onto my 280 for now, unless the 285 is significantly better, and I can sell my 280 for more than I paid for it!
