Been looking at the evga range of 680's as a possible purchase, would put 2 of them in sli but there seems to be a few different models with various coolers etc. Fancy going evga based on after sales warranty and support but which is the best one to grab from the 2 gb range? I see there are 2 on offer today.

Heard the cooling can be different from model to model so wanted some opinions
(am looking at the 2048mb models)

Good choice regarding Warranty and reputation. I would go for the SC Signatures. Also as they are reference blower designed, it will help keeping them cool in SLI :)

For me its the Classified but I'm biased :)

I wouldn't buy the 680 I'd get 2 x 670FTW
and safe yourself few sheckles,
as not a lot between them.

However if its a EVGA 680 you want then the
FTW's again as they run cool and quite plus
seem to be good clockers too.

As your going Sli the heat is dumped outside the case,
good warranty which also doesn't void if you decide
to WC your cards.

+1!

Although, if you really want to save money and son't care about green or red, then 7950s would be my choice:

£50 cheaper each than the 670 and performance is nearly identical

NOTE: The TF coolers dump heat into the case, won't be a problem if you have good airflow

Have decided on the ftw versions based on the temps and performance. Decided to wait off a bit longer on purchasing them as have been hovering over the buy button for 3 days. Ended up starting the upgrade by grabbing the first of 3 Asus VG278H monitors and a cpl of samsung ssd's. Will be adding another scrren at xmas and by that point hopefully i will have sold my 2 580's and replaced them with ftw 680's. Couldnt justify buying the 680's before these 580's are sold but will be upgrading as soon as they are with a new owner.

Are you sure that's a good idea?

You'll be spending £140 for literally just a few FPS more :)

@Gregster

Thanks man..it was your recent build that inspired the "need" to go 3d surround..i also decided bringing 3 monitors in at one time might lead to a costly divorce so will do it gradually, stealth like;)

I do also wonder how the 2 580's would cope with 3d surround but reckon 1536 vram might be an issue hence the idea to upgrade the gpu's in first place.

Was very close to getting the 670's also but was swinging more towards the 680's bearing in mind the whole 3d surround thing. Will keep an eye on the deals over the cpl weeks and maybe will look at the 670's again if they go on offer.

You will be able to run them in surround easily with 2*580s but need to tone down settings because of the power needed.

You'd be hard pushed to tell the difference during gameplay
as i've tried sli 670's amongst others.

just trying to help and save you money in the process :)

Yeah i get that and it totally makes sense hence why ive held off for a bit..i should have £400 to play with hopefully when i sell my 580's so whatever deal looks best at that stage will probably be explored. Prices may drop a bit too by then..the ftw 670's do look good
