I have more then one Question I would like to ask you guys ...

Which card or cards would you buy out of Evga cards I like evga and wont use any other brand because i've never had a problem with them so please stick to that brand when replying ..

"ACX 2" or "Ref" Card reason i am asking is because of the lighting that's on both cards now ,where as 7XX Cards were just ref cards with lighting now its both ...

I understand that the Acx keeps the heat in the pc where as the ref exhaust out the back ...

I have a window on my case and want it to look pretty ,We all do right :) !!! ....

All so for the extra cost of standard card over Super clock is it really worth the extra bucks all most £100 if i am right just to get a little more speed from core ?

All so one more thing .I Noticed that "ACX SC" are around the same money as a ref none SC makes no sense why are the ref cards expensive ?? ...

Any ways thanks for reading if you can reply would be great if not thanks for popping in Happy days ...

I see no point in paying loads of money for a 'clocked' card. They will pretty much all clock the same anyway (well, silicon lottery comes in to play of course), and despite that, the difference between a card that is and isn't clocked is not going to be noticeable in games, only bench-marking. So, with that in mind, I say go for what you can afford and what suits your case best. Personally, I think the reference cards look great and have excellent build quality. If your case isn't optimised for airflow, the Reference makes more sense, and if you were ever planning on SLI then Reference all day long. :)

Thanks man for your speedy reply ...

Ref cards its is then :)

Hi

Sorry for the delay in my reply, usual Sunday night catch up on the forums.

Generally for a suggestion it depends what suits you best.

The 3 models you mention here is a brief explanation of them and pricing:

1) 04G-P4-2981-KR - EVGA GTX 980 Ref with ACX 2.0 Cooling - Entry level non factory OC card - suitable for someone competent at OC themselves with less out the box performance than a SC but fine for someone experienced at OCing. Featuring the ACX 2.0 Cooler.

2) 04G-P4-2982-KR - EVGA GTX 980 SC with blower cooler - Firstly the reason for the extra cost of this card is the cooler is because of the manufacturer of this cooler, they charge us significantly more than our ACX Cooler costs. A lot to do with supply and demand and economies of scale, but also seen as one of the best coolers on the market. Nvidia use this on their reference cards at launch and great at rear heat removal.

3) 04G-P4-2983-KR - EVGA GTX 980 SC with ACX 2.0 Cooling - Card with factory overclock ideal for those looking for plug and play high performance and not wanted to OC the card themselves. Also features the ACX 2.0 Cooler.

Any more info you might like please let me know and il try and help.

Thanks
Ben

Not everyone wants to overclock cards tho mate. So getting a factory clocked card is better for some people. Me included :)
