Think my 1080 is totally dead.

Has been working totally fine since I've had it. put it under water straight away with a h55 never overclocked.

All of a sudden today pc keeps crashing random full screen colours and needs a hard reset.

I have tried the following things.

Uninstalled driver & re-install just driver No nvidia crap.
took cpu overclock off
reset bios to factory.
memory test
case open so no temp issued gpu gets to 60c max same for cpu.

sat on desktop its fine and wont crash.

Left it in the division not doing anything and went back to pc and both screens black and turned off due to no display but pc was still on.

Has my cpu had it?

there is an eva ram centre in the uk now right?

wives got to have a hysterectomy on the 30th so I'm working from home till after xmas & need to game as well.

where as on the site it says

EVGA offers a direct RMA replacement for all our customers. The Standard RMA requires you to return the product to EVGA EU (Located in Munich, Germany)

You send it to their UK based center for either Advanced or standard RMA and they test it there for you. Any parts are shipped out from the German location however. Thier site or what not has just not been updated. Have sent in a GTX 1080 a Titan X (Maxwell) and EVGA TITAN X ACX 2.0 cooler and all went to UK location.

You put a cpu cooler on a GPU!

Are you mad or something.

So you used a CPU waterblock on a GPU? Did you put any heatsinks on the RAM or VRMs?

Yeh thermal pads heatsinks and uograded the fan blowing o to them.

Temps never gone above 60c always have it monitoring.

Took the block off some of the thermal paste was brown and the heatsink on the back thats foam has half melted.

Looks like something overheated probably vrm and I'm not surprised as the H440 Razer has **** air airflow. The h55 on the gpu means the vrm and memory is not actively cooled made worse by the cases poor cooling.

Temps have never been an issue nothing has ever gone above 60c vrms and everything was cooled with upgraded fans

my air cooled 1080 doesnt go over 60! so not worth it dude. get it rma'd if you can. if you want to watercool it, do it properly with a correctly fitting waterblock.

CPU water coolers and GPU water coolers are not the same.

CPU water coolers cool cpu only, gpu coolers have to take into account of vrms and memory chips, so are totally different things.

My cpu is water cooled and I used to have a 480gtx and upgraded the cooler so I had to glue heat sinks on the memory chips.

Basically you have screwed your card up using a cpu cooler on a £500+ GPU card.

If you got 5 ton to blow on a graphics card you have enough to get a decent water cooler for the GPU!

You just destroyed the 1080 by using CPU cooler on it.

Seriously, with the value the EK Predator with QDC has, it worth the investment, and buying from them pre-filled full cover blocks.

The 1080 is listed as compatible with the NZXT G10 AIO adapter.

I personally wouldn't though, due to the lack of VRM / VRAM cooling.

Am I missing something or are you guys just choosing not to read the post from the OP saying he had direct fan cooling via a fan onto the vrms which had upgraded thermal pads and heatsinks?

Why yes he is. Also I don't get why there is so much hate on this thread. The guy is just asking for advice? Whats people's problem?
