As above, what sort of performance increase should I see by adding another and using SLI? failing that what other options would you suggest please?

I realise that, but just wondering if there would be any bigger benefit changing the existing 770 and adding 2 different models??

If you have the cash maybe you should get a 780. Then later you could get another for SLI. 770 SLI would be as fast or faster then a Titan. Save some money and get another 770's.

ok, will prob go with another 770 then, how much of a difference does the memory make? I currently have a 2Gb version and will obviously buy the same again, but if they were the 3Gb or 4Gb versions what sort of difference could be expected?

None.

Mixing memory amount is futile anyway. It mirrors the data between both cards and only the smallest amount would be available total.

A 2GB and 4GB card in SLI would only offer 2GB of memory.

Assuming you're gaming at 1920x1080 (or thereabouts) ... not much. There are some here that are claiming that 2GB will bottleneck our cards soon (e.g. in BF4) at maximum settings, particularly high antialiasing levels. Remains to be seen, I'd say.

If you're gaming at higher resolutions than that then having more memory would be good, though again if turning down a few settings if you need to is no problem for you then 2560x1440 should still be doable with 2GB cards.

Its not so much the amount of memory but the bus, some would argue the 256bit bus of the 770 is what holds it back at higher resolutions. A 4gb card doesn't change this

I would back my two 2gb cards against anyones two 3gb cards when it comes to running BF4 on a single screen.:D;):)

So it work though in sli then without ciausing any issues, or would they have to be identical?

As long as it's the same GPU and same amount of VRAM, then it doesn't matter which manufacturer you use and it doesn't matter what the clock speeds are nor what the cooling solution is like.
