A friend of mine has just bought the above MB.. however he is having serious issues starting it up.

He has connected all leads.. ie the 24pin and one 4 pin connector. However it simply starts up for a few seconds then the power cuts.

He is thinking it may be a Supply issue.. but does anyone else have any info on this?

His kit is ->

EVGA nForce 680i SLi MB
E2140
2GB OCZ (I think)
8800GT
Not sure on PSU.. think it may be a 500W

Thanks!

few random questions based on how its disconnecting.

Is the heatsink connected (plugged in)

is there any thermal paste on the heatsink?

your problem could be the 4 pin p4 connector, the evga 680i has an 8 pin connector and according to the manual, if you only have a 4 pin p4 powersupply, you should connect it on pins 1,2,3,4. make sure you have it connected in the correct half.

What's the LED code saying? Is there one? Also, are the blue and amber lights on the board lighting up?

He plugged in the supply to the GPU on the mobo and also plugged in a supply actually on the GPU causing dual feed (not good)
I only know this through word of mouth of coarse and it definatly didnt take me an entire day to figure it out lol.
