Hi Guys,

I'm having a problem with a friends new computer and I'm running out of options and patience.

He bought his new computer from Overclockers and I put it together for him, the specs are as follows.

Motherboard : Gigabyte Z87-HD3
RAM : 8GB Kingston HyperX Genesis 1600MHz
Processor : Intel Core i7 Haswell @ 4.2GHz (Overclocked Quasar 215i Bundle)
GFX : EVGA Nvidia GTX 770 4GB Classified
PSU : Corsair Builder Series CX 750w Modular
HDD : WD Caviar Blue 1TB

This is a brand new card, the first one was RMA'ed as we couldn't be sure whether it was a hardware issue or not.

I have have just finished a fresh install of windows (for the nth time), Mobo drivers were installed from the disc, then updated using the latest ones from Gigabytes website.

Windows updates are all done and finished.

The problems lies with the graphics card, now we can use the integrated graphics fine (its what I'm using at the minute) and we can also use the graphics card fine, as long as we do not install any drivers.

As soon as we install drivers for the card, be it from the disc that came with the card or the latest ones from nVidia, and then restart the computer, it gets stuck booting and wont pass the windows splash screen.

Once this occurs, if we remove the graphics card and plug back into the mobo gfx, windows will start fine and i am able to remove the nVidia drivers, shut down, plug the card back in, and boot back up with no problems. I have also tried a host of legacy drivers and used Precision X the bring the overall power of the Graphics card down.

Nothing seems to be working, we have tried different drivers, 2 different cards and all other drivers are up to date.

i have made sure that the nvidia audio drivers are not being installed as i have read that this can cause problems (conflicting with Realtek drivers)

I have also tried many other things, but i am too tired to recollect them now, i will update my post tomorrow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

LoSt

That is something I haven't tried, and also something I have never had to do before. Could I get a link to the new BIOS as I don't recall seeing it, plus maybe a little walkthrough.

Thanks for the replys gents, its been the cause of a bit of frustration over the last week, and I really want to get my mate up and running with his new comp as I specced and built it for him.

Go to motherboard manufacturer's website look for drivers section, download latest bios.
Unpack it onto clean bootable USB drive and go to Bios on launch ( some motherboards have a dedicated usb slot for that, check if yours do ).
Find the bios update option and wait until its done.
Do not restart / switch pc off untill its done ( it will reboot when its done ).
Check bios version on bios main screen, to be sure if its updated.
What you shouldn't do - never update in Windows, it may cause a lot of troubles.

Thanks for the replys guys, hopefully this will sort the problem.

Dominic thanks for your attention on this matter, I will email you shortly for a copy of that BIOS

Thanks again guys
