EVGA or Gigabyte GTX 780?

So I'm looking into getting a new PC next week if finances permit it.

Everything else is chosen as I'm buying it from a company that will build it for me, but seeing as I don't what what GFX brands they chose I've decided to leave it out of the build and buy one myself.

The problem is I have £422 to play with and I'm looking at these two cards:

- Gigabyte GTX 780 Windforce 3X "GHZ Edition"
- EVGA GTX 780 SC ACX Superclock

I've looked at some reviews comparing the normal Gigabyte Windforce and the EVGA and the EVGA seems to perform better and it's also quieter and runs cooler.

But I can't find a comparison between the EVGA and the Gigabyte GHz Edition.

So I was wondering if anyone can shed some light into which is better, or perhaps name another branded GTX 780 within the same price range?

--------
The rest of the specs will be as follows:

CM 690 II Advanced Case
i5 4670K @ Stock
8GB Kingston Hyper-X Genesis
120GB Intel 530 SSD or a 120GB Kingston V300 SSD *Any help on that front too?*
1TB WD Caviar Black
Corsair 750W RM
Titan Super Quiet Tripper Copper Heatpipe

I was always led to believe that EVGA had the best customer service, they even have a rep on ocuk forums.

Preference over nvidia over AMD.

I've had AMD cards for I believe every computer I've owned, and in recent games namely Arma 3 I've seen that the nvidia cards perform better then AMD.

Also I'd like a change from AMD, don't get me wrong, I do like AMD cards but I'd like a change and I believe since I'm getting a new PC now would be a good opportunity.

I thought that AMD cards were better on a larger scale if you're gaming in more the 1080p?

But as I write this I am looking/watching comparisons between then R9 290X and the GTX 780.

------
Also the EVGA Classy will most likely go out of offer by the time I buy it.

EVGA Classified > 780 GHZ > 780 ACX though the GHZ edition is a very good card and probably would be my pick if your not planning on any major overclocking as it boosts so well out the box but the Classified has a bit of an edge in the silicon lottery if your overclocking. My GHZ edition boosts to 1189 out the box which puts it pretty much spot on stock (reference) 780ti performance and still has enough in the tank to almost hit 1300MHz without modded BIOS, etc.

EDIT: Not sure I'd believe reviews that show the Classified as quieter or cooler running than the GHZ edition - mine is pretty much silent under normal conditions and the fan is barely noticeable at 60% speed (normally runs 17-30%) though its fairly noticeable once it gets towards 100% and even with a max clock and extra voltage stays under 70C. (Normally about 56C with out the box boost/volts).

Oh forgot to mention the GHZ edition is on the new b1 silicon so reviews of the older Gigabyte WindForce 3X won't be quite the same story probably - though nothing earth shattering in it the cards on the b1 silicon usually run a tiny bit cooler/more power efficent.

ive had a few classy 780s and wouldnt get another most have fan problems, so if your willing to try your luck id get an msi lightning instead or even a asus dc2

Personal preference, would vote for the EVGA I've had a few of their cards over the years and they have always seemed decent. Am not a fan of the gigabyte cooler either, looks like it ejects far too much heat into the case?

If you won't be overclocking, I would go for the fastest 780 out of the box.

Unless I am wrong, I believe that is the fastest and having the best warranty :)

Good choice but just to point out that you choice to stick soley with Nvidia means that if you were to buy this card your paying 80 pound more then the equivalent AMD card (Sapphire R290 tri ex) although you do get an extra years warranty with the Gigabyte card.

I would go for evga, when it comes to nvidia gpu's.
I had 2 GTX 660ti sli from them and they worked great out of the box.
They have most incredible customer service I know of ( sorry ocuk :D ).
I recently needed spare cables for my psu and they sent it to me in a flash, for free,I just had to cover 50% of delivery (12€).
Their cards used to be more expensive but with 290x and 780ti out, their 780s are at same price as other. Thats a clear choice for me.

On the evga vs Gigabyte if you end up having to rma Gigabyte is good and EVGA have improved over the last few years but if you don't send it back to the shop and choose to send it direct to the manufacturers EVGA are in Germany were as Gigabyte are in the UK.

Well there is other things at times that need to be considered. PhysX is something AMD can't do. G-Sync is also worth a mention but vice versa, AMD have TrueAudio and Mantle (hopefully soon) that nVidia can't do (they will probably be able to do Mantle at some stage).

Anyways, I digress.... :)

Are there any other contenders to consider like Inno3D, MSI, KFA, Gainward?

And I'm willing to look at AMD, obviously due to owning AMD in the past.

Also could someone sum up what all of this 'AMD Mantle' is about?

I've personally got the zotac 780 amp edition and I believe it has got the fastest stock speeds. I've got nothing bad to say about it and can be found for under £400.

Personally I have absolutely no regrets about spending the extra to buy the 780 GHZ edition (somewhat sweetened by the fact I got it on a one day deal for just under £400 and mine seems to boost one bin above average for these cards).

Regarding warranty, id go with gigabyte over evga any day of the week, (and twice on a sunday).:D My experience of evga's supposed customer service is that it's a joke.
