EVGA Power Supply

A 550w psu would easily power a 1070/1080 setup. I have yet to see my pc pull 300w at the wall even with the gpu heavily overclocked while benching. Normal gaming use is in the 220-250w range.

That psu is ok but it's nothing special. It's certainly not worth the proper price of £87. The oem is HEC who mainly build budget psu's and are rather hit or miss in quality, I don't rate them at all. It has a single 12v rail of 840w. Jonnyguru has reviewed the 750w version and only gave it 8.1/10 which is just mediocre. Voltage regulation is average at best and that score is not great. With the big choice of reasonably priced high quality units scoring 9/10 and over I wouldn't want one of these anywhere near any of my pc's.

Thanks i really appreciate your comments, i have very old coolermaster PSU that i have bought with my first PC ~2007. Its only 500W without 80+ rating. I think i will have to settle for one of the 650W Super Flower PSU on sale.

This is a cracking deal at the moment. Be aware though that the Superflower Leadex psu's have bright white led's where you plug the cables in and they cannot be turned off.

Alternatively the EVGA Supernova GQ 650w is also a very good psu. It's a FSP built unit with the full 650w available on the single 12v rail and has a 5 year warranty. Jonnyguru gave it 9.4/10 in his review.
