Looking to buy a 660 but am finding OCUK prices a tad high atm, so waiting for a deal.

Been looking at both the EVGA SC and MSI TF,

One is £10 cheaper on OCUK but i can find cheaper?

Since ive had bother with 3x 7850s ive been told EVGA quality is the best and i should try this over other brands?

I can get it at the same price as the MSI but i do like the MSI custom cooling as the 7850 was silent.

Do you think EVGA will give me less problems then MSI?

6 of one really...both good brands, evga may have a longer warranty though depending if you take advantage of their step up warranty program.

You certainly shouldn't have any quality issues with either card.

Never seen any significant quality issues with MSI though been hearing a bit lately so seems like they may have a batch or two thats sub-standard. Over the years I'd say EVGA have been slightly more reliable from my experience.

Yeah well ive never had problems with graphics card ever! Untill the 7850, but my MB is nearly 5 years old so this could be it?

Trying the 660 i want to make it as easier as possible to say its my MB thats causing the problems and not the 7850s. I mean my 285 performs better then the 7850 at same settings in most games so something is wrong.

I think ill check the sales tomoz and get the MSI if its on sale, OCUK recommends the EVGA though, this is why im puzzeld.

I like EVGA simply because of the warranty and the fact they are active on our forum :)

With getting a Nvidia card, you will at least see if it is your mobo or was infact bad luck with AMD.

True greg, this is what im thinking, i know Nvidia software is way better then AMD so im sure its the AMD cards and not my MB. I mean how can the same everything work with 1 card and not the other? This is without drivers?

So weird! The only thing i will hate with the EVGA is the cooler, its the same as the 285 i have now and they get loud!

Ill order wed and hope for the best lol!

It's not. The software quality is pretty similar for single card. It's multi-card and multi-monitor where nVidia excel IMO. Still even then there ain't much difference though.

Strictly speaking they only deal with the first 28 days BUT will let you return the card to MSI via OcUK for the full 3 years, so you save having to front up the cash to return to mainland Europe, also OcUK usually refund shipping costs provided you show them proof of postage etc...

I beg to differ, at least when products are first released. I think AMD have to always beat Nvidia to market with the latest products and to ensure the best lead time they tend to release the HW and worry about sorting the drivers later. So I've had two new to market AMD cards that have struggled with video playback (stuttering, image tearing) that took a few driver releases to completely resolve. The 5770 that I bought also had Catalyst drivers crashing when I remoted in to the machine - Catalyst drivers failed as soon as the desktop was displayed.
I've found NVidia drivers much better sorted on release day.
Through the product lifecycle you are probably right, AMD sort their issues but I still think NVidia have the edge personally. Less likely to have sudden driver issues when a new driver is released and I just feel the software is better optimised but there's no evidence of this I suppose but I think it comes down to having a reason to have more confidence in the software due to less issues in the past.

I may try an AMD card again when they bring the next gen out. I try HW from both companies. I am a bit concerned AMD 'profit' problems may impact their products this time around, we'll see
