Just a heads up for anyone wanting to buy a EVGA graphics card second hand.

EVGA no longer do guest RMA but they will still honour second hand graphics card in warranty and allow it to be registered and warranty claimed. But when speaking to EVGA their reply was that you need a receipt to proof that you purchased it of someone second hand. This put all those buying on the forums or off friends or local markets or in anyway where the transaction is without a receipt in a pickle. It means you wont be able to register the card on their website and cant claim warranty

This is what they told me in an email if you know otherwise please let me know,

I though i give everyone a heads up.

Yes, it's disappointing. When I sell my 1080ti I'll make it clear to the buyer and I'll obviously deal with any warranty claim on their behalf. However, I think EVGA's decision has pushed me toward Zotac for my 1180ti purchase as they have a 5 year warranty and usually offer pre-installed water blocks much quicker than EVGA.

I've got a 980ti in my son's system that I bought on the MM and hopefully there's no warranty issues to come as I'll be screwed.

I'm avoiding EVGA in future.

Never know why companies do this. If it's faulty then does it matter who bought it and from where? If there is no sign of damage and it's faulty with their name on it, just repair it and keep your good name. Instead they are going to drive business away. I'm no businessman but can't think of a single reason why this would be a good move for a company .

Glad I've seen this as was going to buy a used EVGA 1080ti yesterday but wanted to sleep on it. Glad I did now .will just save for a few weeks and buy new now from some other company. Nice move EVGA

could not agree more, there needs to be laws in place that if a product has 3 year warranty then it should at least be honoured from date of manufacturer regardless of original owner or lack of receipt. These companies can wriggle their way out of anything.

Can only see them going this way due to all the mining cards flooding the market then going in for repair, which is now costing EVGA money and they want to keep their profits up.

Again completely agree. If the product owner can't produce proof of purchase, at least if it is within say the length of the warranty plus 2 or 3 months as calculated from date of manufacture, there really shouldn't be a problem with the warranty being honoured.

Really annoys me when companies say warranties aren't transferable. Only thing they are damaging is the own brand image.

In terms of a receipt would PayPal invoice work. They still say that the warranty is transferable so it should be fine.

I believe so, but if request a receipt from paypal lets say for selling on a forum you have to incur a fee, if i am not wrong. Because the seller has to send an invoice from paypal to the buyer and its not a free service from memory.

Just EVGA being really awkward, they know many wont have these receipts.

Yeah you would incur the PayPal fees which would suck but might be worth it for the buyer for the warranty.

The invoice is free but it’s not technically a receipt. If you pay over PayPal to get a proper receipt then there will be a hefty fee.

Original purchase date is after May 25, 2018 if its before you dont need a invoice ive had this comfirmed on the EVGA warranty forum.

Makes sense, I imagine a flood of mining abused gpu's will provide plenty of headaches

Yes it was the miners that made evga do this with the warranty it started in the US and didn't think they would have done it in the UK but they have.

In terms of sales through the MM, surely you could pay normally by BT or PPG then also send a cursory £5 via normal PayPal with reciept/invoice as proof of purchase. EVGA shouldn’t really care about the value it’s being sold for.

Is there an official EVGA page that lists the changes in RMA claims or was it all via the forums?
