Hi thanks for looking.

I have a evga rtx 3070 xc3 gaming. After installing win 11 I now hear a high pitched screeching from the graphics card mainly on game loading screens! Using a fps counter the screech happens when the fps hits 2000+ I've enabled the frame limiter in the gpu settings and in games but it doesn't change anything. I'm worried this is gonna destroy my graphics card?

Coil whine, fairly normal with GPUs and won't do any harm. Try some undervolting, less power use = less whine.

Thanks for the reply.

I don't think it's coil whine. I get coil whine whilst playing some gpu demanding titles, the screech sounds different, more like the high pitched noise a faulty cap makes? I remember hearing the same kind of noise a few years ago right before my mobo blew a few caps on a older system I had.

Sounds like coil whine, I have had few screamers in the past, try under vaulting or just power limit it to 80%, see if it reduces it.

I would suggest cycling the card through several runs of heaven benchmark or 3D Mark Benchmarks so that the card settles in - It should get rid of the whine after a few days,,

It's stopped doing it now. Was gonna take the card out and give it a clean when I noticed a vga converter was still plugged in! Removed it and the noise stopped.
