I got a display driver crash with this error in event log

Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

i got a new power supply a few weeks ago. a Seasonic Focus GX 1000w so i doubt its a PSU issue. And yes i did a DDU Clean and reinstalled NVIDIA Driver i even went back one version of the Driver just to make sure. And it still crashes.

Did you find a solution to this? I'm having the same problem with my 3080 in God of War and Forza Horizon 5. Crashes after anywhere from 20 seconds to an hour.

Did DDU and reinstall.
Ran card at stock.
Ran card at undervolt.
Ran Memtest86 for 24 hours, no errors.
Stopped various programs running at startup e.g. game launchers, razer synapse, icue, logitech G HUB, etc.

Nothing has worked!

Run sfc /scannow from an amdimistrator console to check the file system is okay, then verify game files. CP2077 gives the card a good workout, what temps are you getting and is anything overclocked? What is your system made up of?

Thanks for your help. Ran sfc / scannow and it says no violations founds. I've verified the game files, no issues found.

Temps are all fine and nothing is overclocked (excepting the RAM, but I've ran memtest on it and its stable (has been for over 2 years).

Really can't figure out what it is that is causing this issue.

I used to have that error when I overclocked my old 980 past its limits. You could try increasing the voltage a bit and see if that solves the problem, if it does I would look into getting a replacement.

It's a frustrating issue you have and you really need to rule out Windows being the issue. Can you do a fresh install on an old HD/SSD?

Hi
did you try older GPU driver

Ok so I ran the Afterburner auto overclock. Just ran Forza 5 for 2 hours without any crashes or issues. So it is looking like overclocking has fixed the crashing issue. I am assuming then that this is grounds for an RMA?

For reference I'm running an 850 watt EVGA G2 power supply which is three years old. So I don't imagine it is the PSU that is causing any issues.

Yes I would look into RMA if its not stable at stock. Could get worse as time goes on.

i already tried reinstalling windows 10 on my NVME SSD ive used DDU clean wiped the drivers tried older drivers but the issue can sometimes happen i notice it mostly happens on a GPU intensive game or a DX12 Title in fact i got a Driver Crash from Simply Alt-Tabbing out of Elden Ring while its still running in the background to read something on the internet then boom a black screen for a few seconds and a driver crash as reported in the Event Viewer.

ive had this Card for months now and the issue still happens i remember reading online that it "Might" of been caused by the AIB cheaping out on the capacitors but not sure if thats true i think its just a problem with the XC3 Ultra Cards i did notice however that the XC3 Ultra is Factory Overclocked compared to the Non Ultra Models but to be honest with you i dont really feel like "Gimping" The card so its not hitting past 1950mhz on the core simply due to underclocking it. i want the performance i paid for im on the edge of probably getting an RMA but i dont want EVGA to send me another XC3 Ultra Card with the same issues.

Yes I did, didn't fix the problem unfortunately.

To be honest i would just RMA the card thats what im going to do because nothing seems to fix it so its obvious the card is faulty. i personally think the XC3 Ultra cards have been cheaped out capacitors which is causing these Driver Crashes under a heavy load you will notice it happen on a DX12 title like Cyberpunk like i did. either that or i just sell the card and wait until the RTX 40 series releases. However newer or better models of the RTX 3080 most likely dont suffer with these problems but the issue is now to buy an Asus Rog Strix RTX 3080 is gonna be very expensive so its not worth it right now in my opinion.

Perhaps try support via EVGA's forums, but sadly it does sound like RMA time since you have tried a fresh Windows install.
