Hey all,

I have a question about the EVGA step up, do they reduce the retail prices on their website eventually or do they just stay at the original retail? I was thinking about getting a GTS now then stepping up to a GTX or hopefully NVidia will have a new set of cards in 3 months time (anyone heard anything?) but im wondering if its worth just going for a BFG OC2 straight away.
If EVGA do reduce the prices then ill probably stick with the GTS in the hope ill get a step up card cheaper in the future :)

Thanks

My view on this is that it's much more sensible to just buy what you want/need now, and then sell it on when you see something to replace it with.

That's what I do anyway, and then at least you're not tied in to whatever cards are released by the end of the 3 month step up period, or having to pay top retail price for it. In other words, you're in control of what you sell and buy when you want to.

EVGA won't be losing out on this step up service, so I really struggle to see how they're doing you any favours. Then there's the process itself, which is not all that straightforward IMO!

I've not got a downer on EVGA, I owned one of their sig series cards a while back, but I just think it makes more sense to either buy what you can afford now, or save up for the 3 months and get the card you may be able to buy at step up.

Heck, you can get a £25 7300GT to tide you over for 3 months whilst you save the readies you'd be spending at step up!! :)

That's my ramblings on the subject anyway! ;)
