Evga step up

Hi. Been looking for a 2nd hand 980ti but nobody is letting them go for what i think is a reasonable price. I dont have access to MM.
I was thinking of buying a new evga gtx 980ti and stepping up to a gtx 1080 when hopefully the stock has gone up and price dropped. How does this work and do you think it is worth doing?

I love this step up thing. We could buy the most expensive evga 980 ti we can find and not care about discounts at all. We'll just pay less when upgrading to 1080!

Keep in mind you have to use the 1080 price listed on the EVGA EU store. They don't tend to drop prices as easily as other retailers.
I mean the plan is still decent, but just be prepared to pay the price listed now even in 90 days, if EVGA don't drop it at all.

That being said the retail prices are only going up atm and the listed non-FE upgrade is €680 which converts to around £535 atm, so that is not too bad a price for a reference 1080 with ACX3.0 cooling...

Bare in mind shipping costs of the old card and new card are both on you, so you can add ~£20+ to the price which gets it a lot closer to the retail price you find at places like OCUK.

Yup, I had ordered the same card you can step up to last week because it was showing in stock with a competitor, invoice came to £586.50 - I didn't get it because the web site basically lied and I refuse to pay the FE prices.

Either way I've ordered the MSI 980ti on today's deal for the day, I needed to replace my current graphics card as its failing and the extras in that pack make it a better deal. The card will last me until Vega or Pascal ti/tx and as long as it doesn't explode can still recoup some of what I spent by selling it on again.

Thanks for the info. Sounds good to me. Even if i dont go ahead with the step up im stuck with a 980ti. . Should be a massive upgrade over my 780 which i sold a few weeks ago.
