Hi all,

I've just installed a brand new EVGA 1000W G2 PSU into my rig. I'm pretty new to all this so I'm looking for a bit of reassurance.

It installed fine (smart looking piece of kit) however close up with the side panel off it makes this quiet sound which is hard to explain. The best way I can describe it is like a HDD continously read/writing.

I'm using a Fractal R4 Define case (clear side panel) which is at desk height and no more than a metre away. When closed up the sound is still there but less noticeable (but now its bugging me)

The previous PSU was a Fractal Design 600W Essence. I could not hear this at all.

As the 1000W EVGA is much more beefier, is that the reason I can hear this noise as opposed to the 600W Essence?

Thanks

A lot of common psu sounds are of hissing or whining. But yours is not, do you know what part of the psu it is coming from, maybe the fan bearings?

If you have the psu out of the case, with just a few fans connected does it still make the sound.
