Just putting my watercooled lian li 011 dynamic mini build together and just realised the mini only accepts small form factor psus meaning my 750 wont fit

i need to stick with evga so my cablemods cables fit

will this 650w psu handle my palit watercooled 3090 and a 5600x?

Can the case take SFX-L size PSU?

650w with a 3090 i wouldn't risk, minimum I would risk on is a good 750w-800w.

If so I would grab one of these :- https://www.silverstonetek.com/product_power.php?tno=7&area=en

This is the one I would pick :- https://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=965&area=en

That way gives you future upgrade paths for newer higher power components as we are for sure going to get next gen gpus and cpus.

I need to stick to evga and sfx as my cablemods are for evga

Just used this power calculator and it says system will draw a max of 597 watt

https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator

Well only thing you can do is try it and see, if the system crashes or restarts while gaming then the psu is not enough. Also remember this is at your own risk, I would try with the 3090 undervolted first and then slowly move it back up to stock to reduce the chance of a shutdown or restart. Really you need a 850w with a 3090 to deal with its spikes in power too. The PSU calculators don't take that into consideration.

650w power supply came today its now all setup just been running some timespy and the division benchmarks never hit the power limit according to msi afterburner. Palit 3090 and 5600x plus water cooling setup

so all good so far

It'll be fine.

Those GPU PSU recommendations have to factor in some super ****** brands like you can buy on ******.

Your PSU is a decent quality unit.

Is the 3090 a 3 x 8 pin or 2 x 8 pin?
I've used a 650W PSU with a 3090 FE and 5600x with zero issues. A 2 x 8 pin PSU can pull 375W maximum while the 5600x pulls 95W, giving you 180W or abouts for everything else. If a 3 x 8 Pin you may need something more powerful as this can pull an additional 150 watt potentially

The 2xxx series downclock if they hit a power limit so I imagine with a decent PSU the 3090 will be fine at 650w and would just do the same before crashing. It would downclock if it hit the power limit anyway. I think when it starts to crash etc is when people use a 400/500w with one and it just doesnt have enough power in the first place to fire up in 3D.

The palit 3090 OC is 2 x 8 pin

I ran a 3090 and a 3900x for a couple of weeks on a 600 watt PSU. I down clocked the 3090 to 250W and always have the 3900x underclocked too.

One big issue is if afterburner crashes. Which its only done twice this year on me. The gfx card will ramp up to full power in this circumstance. With a low power system as stated, 5600x, then this might still be 'OK' on a good quality 650w PSU.

Ive found 750w psu (seasonic titaniums) have caused me power issues on a 3090. I had to undervolt to get it stable.

Wasnt there an issue on some power supplies though where the overvolt protection was a little too sensitive? Im not saying that is what is happening to you but read something, I think it was EVGA power supplies but I know a lot of power supplies effectively share the same internals with different branding on top.

Because those graphics card draw so much so fast as a "spike"( there is a proper name I cant remember), the PSU thinks a short or whatever has happened and shuts everything down, when infact if it wasnt for that could easily handle the load, or infact a "lesser quality" power supply with not as good overvolt protection would be fine, ironically.
