EVGA SuperNOVA G3 850W Gold for an RTX 4090 with a Ryzen 5950x?

Hi guys - I think I may know the answer to this question already, but here goes....

I'm currenly using an EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G3 PSU for the following rig...

- Ryzen R9 5950x
- Nvidia RTX 3090 FE
- Aorus X570 Ultra Mobo
- 4x 8gb G.Skill FlareX CL14 3200 ram
- 3x M.2 SSDs (512gb-1tb)
- 1x SATA SSD
- 1x WD 7200rpm HDD
- NZXT Kraken x62 CPU cooler
- 6x Noctua NF A14 case fans (including two hooked up to the Kraken X62)

Do you think I'd be OK using the EVGA SuperNOVA 850G3 PSU if I upgraded the RTX 3090 to....

i) An RTX 4090 FE (if I can ever get hold of one)
ii) An MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X (the one with a liquid cooler).


Both 4090s list an 850w PSU as recommended, but I sense with all those case fans, SSDs and a 16 core processor I *might* be flying a bit close to the sun..

What do you think?

Thanks guys. I watched a video where Linus Sebastian got a 7950x running with a 4090 on a 650w supply.....I think I'm going to wait for a 4090 FE and lower the power target to 80% until I can pick up a good 1200w ATX 3.0 PSU at a decent price.

Can confirm that the 850w psu is fine for my rig (see first post). 4090 FE arrived today and even in synthetic benchmarks it is not pulling more than 650w from the wall. Much less in games...maybe 500w.

If anyone is worrying about using an 850w PSU for the 4090 FE, don't....850w leaves plenty of headroom if there is no overclock.

Good job, saved yourself a few quid there. PSU req's are always exaggerated IMO, by both NV and AMD.
