EVGA transferable warranty problem

I'm after a used GTX580 that was purchased from a well known UK retailer on the 25/07/2011, an EVGA rep on the forums over at EVGA says that the card has no transferable warranty as it was purchased before the 01/07/2011, he checked using the serial the seller gave me. Seller registered the card for 10 year warranty and uploaded the invoice showing date of purchase.

Now thing is on the guest RMA page for Europe it accepts the serial but stated it couldn't find the shipping date, it then gives you the option to enter purchase date and then carry on with the RMA as long as you enter the purchase date as after the 01/07/2011.

So any of you guys know who's right and who's wrong.

Only thing to do m8 is put a thread up on the EVGA forums im sure they will get it sorted for you.

I have done, TBH they are American and I'm not sure they have much clue about European guest RMA, they keep linking to the US guest RMA that us Europeans can't access.

Here's his response in the thread

If the product itself falls within the new Gloabal Warranty, meaning it was purchased on or after 7/1/2011, then the card will have a 3 year warranty if its sold someone else.

After checking the serial apparently it is non-transferable even though that contradicts what he originaly posted.

hang on... I'm confused... card was purchased on 25/07/2011... so that IS after 01/07/2011... so where is the problem?

but yeah, to be sure to be sure you could send a scan of the original invoice to the european EVGA outfit and get them to confirm it has valid warranty remaining (the owner should also have something as proof he registered it for 10 year warranty)

if EVGA don't already have a copy of the original invoice date then the date they will have on their system (that the US guy may have checked against) would be the date that EVGA originally shipped it out their end before it got to the retailer - however they should honour warranty from point of sale to end user, not from their own ship date

That's why I'd buy an Evga in the future, you don't get this level of help(if any at all) from any other AIC manufacturer@OcUK forums.

And we are sorted. Markus go back to me and confirmed the card does indeed have a three year transferable warranty...jackpot, cheers all.

Was never unhappy with EVGA, had they come back and said no deal, it would have been no problem for me. Always said EVGA are the best in the business and it's personal customer service as seen in this thread that puts them head and shoulders over other brands for customer support. cheers.
