Ex-Display Item

I was after an old motherboard that only one online store has but it is marked as ex-display. There are several ex-display items scattered throughout there website. What I'm wondering is that they don't have a showroom or store so what are these ex-display items exactly. Could they be customer returns?

Could be ex display from trade expo's etc? May also will be missing manuals, cables and back-plates so bear that in mind when ordering.

It could mean ex-demo i.e. was used for product testing, etc. Worth asking them I would say.

my z370 ultra gaming was listen as ex display (seller had around 50 different boards for sale) I took the punt and it was like new, plastic still on the board and literally zero dust or signs of wear. I paid £150 delivered which was a bargain IMO and worth the punt
