Hi there!

Been a while since i've posted!

I've been enviously looking at some of the new graphics cards around and having read a review which heaped praise upon it, I've decided I'd like to buy the new Nvidia 680. The problem is I'm not sure my PCI-E slot in my EX-58UD4P is compatible? It's PCI-E 2.0 whereas the new card requires 3.0 if I'm not mistaken... Am I correct in this case?

Thanks for your help!

If I'm not totally mistaken, from this experiment whilst I appreciate it's using another card, would the difference between PCI 2.0 and PCI 3.0 be the x8 and x16 performance indicators?

Thanks for the input RJC, very much noted. Just trying to be thorough as it's a lot of money for a card!

yea will work nicely, but i would put a little more ram in than 3gb and get yourself a copy of windows 7 64bit.

windows xp 64bit is horrible for compatibility with software and games, plus xp is out of date now... install 7 64bit and you can pick up a nice set of 6gb triple channel for about £35

check out this stuff: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-109-KS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1389

most games nowadays need a good 4gb of memory in, so might as well take advantage of the cheap prices... unlike those hard drives xD

Fantastic, thanks CinderzFTW! Will look into getting some more RAM for sure, I did realize that would be a necessity to avoid bottlenecks! Cheers lads

pci-e is backward compatable i would say upgrade your OS and memory as well you can get 8Gb memory quite cheap now with xp only DX 9 compliant you are not going to get the full experience from your gtx680 and it seems pointless having such good card and not using it to its full potential
