Hello all, my sons PC decided to give up on him a few days ago so I decided to take a look and after doing a fair few checks I decided it must be the power supply.
Anyway to make sure I decided to try a spare 600 PSU I had knocking about which I was aware likely was not powerful enough for the GTX 580 Card, i7 processor and 6gb ram.
I connected it all up and everything started to boot but unfortunately it errored with a number of 88 which when I looked up stated not enough power etc which made sense.
Anyway the only option from that point was to purchase a New power supply which I received today from overclockers, on installing it I proceeded to switch on and nothing happened:confused:
Having looked at the board there would normally be a fair few led lights lit at this point but I could only see the onboard power button flashing on and off at about 1 second intervals.
I decided once again to try the 600wat power supply where it started to fire up once again
Now at this point I come to the conclusion it must be a faulty power supply and contacted overclockers who said that`s likely to be the case and have sent RMA details.
A short time later I had an idea where I could take the 800 wat power supply out of the lounge PC and as a final check see what happens. I basically tried it and nothing:confused:
I am now hesitant to return the cosair PSU as the 800wat PSU also did not work:confused:
What could it be? the 600wat appears to want to work but not enough power and the 800 and 850 wat do nothing????
Are only certain PSU compatible with the EX58-UD5 motherboard ????
Any idea`s would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks to all

what make are the psu's? i know ones a corsair,if its ocz you might have compatibility issues

tried taking out mb battery for 30minutes? then load optimised defaults in the bios

Hi wazza300, the power supply that actually starts to work is a OCZ600SXS
The New one which arrived today was 850 corsair and the 800 wat that does nothing also is a make called ATRIX.
I have already tried different methods of clearing the bios to removing the battery and also pressing the bios clear on the back of the PC.
Thanks for the idea`s though.
Cheers

Did you test with only one ram stick installed in any of the white slots? Amd have you removed the CPU at all?

Hi, I have just checked by using one stick at a time and nothing:confused:
I have never removed the cpu as it come as a bundle.

seems strange,i can only think of checking the actual 24 pin mb socket and 8 pin cpu power socket just to see if its loose or a poor contact
