Hello all,

looking to find the easiest way of doing this:

I have Vista installed on a 80gb hard drive, everything's working perfectly but drive is too loud.

I want to copy it over to a 40gb hard drive.
But don't want to re-install everything!

is there a (preferably free) method of copying the drive exactly, so i can then boot from the 40gb and everything working again as if nothing happened?

thank you!

Go to the website(s) of the drive manufacturers. They have free tools to download that will do this for you.

uninstall the things you don't want first, and use ccleaner slim to remove temp files etc

and disable system restore

now use an acronis true image boot cd to do a 1:1 copy
