Hi guys,

I have created an excel spreadsheet that has various currency figures on it, I have set the cell format to be Currency, then -1234,10

So when I input a figure, say -90 does it not change the colour to red?

The spreadsheet shows credits and debits so need debits to change colour.

How do I sort this?

Thanks

I just need the font to change in colour (red) when I put a minus in front of a number.

I think the link tells you how to make a cell change colour?

Just tried on mine and it works fine.
Are you sure you're not copying/cutting and pasting a value to that cell and in doing so cutting and pasting the cell format?

Nope, I go to the format cell change it to the Currency setting then type in a figure but it just has the font colour as blue, it adds the £ though

Hmm, just tried it on a complete new spreadsheet and it works.

I chose a "Format as table" layout, could this be why I'm having problems inputting on it?

Seems a bit odd...

I would ignore the preset rules and create a new rule.
Highlight your data area and create a new conditional formatting rule.
New rule > Format only cells that contain
Set your criteria below it > Cell value less than 0
Format button and set your colour to red

Works regardless of the table layout format you mentioned above.
