Hello.

I am looking for a spreadsheet program for Android phone that meets the following requirements.

Free (and ad free).

Can be used locally and not online or with subscription.

Can use the same formulae as MS Excel.

Can use IF statements, etc. as in MS Excel.

I'm aware of LibreOffice for PC, however, I think the phone version is for viewing files only and not creating/editing (I could be wrong). Does Collabora Office meet all the above requirements and even if it does, are there any other options that meet these requirements also?

Thank you.

Thank you for replying.

whitecrook, I am trying to achieve similar spreadsheet functionality to Excel, particularly IF statements, but for general spreadsheet use also.

hood1971, I understand Google Sheets is an online application.

Varys, I understand WPS Office contains ads.

You can use Google Sheets offline, just make sure the files are marked as available offline.

Otherwise, I think you might be out of luck - not many skins in the spreadsheet game as the big players do it well, and especially for a phone OS which is mostly online anyway.

Yes, but excel is just a tool. What are you trying to achieve with the tool ? There may be better options depending what you are trying to do ? You could be asking for a big screwdriver when what you really need is a pry bar.

Thanks Throrik. Wasn't aware of that. I suppose this could be an option, even though I was thinking of a program you would just download and use, without any online process or having to register, etc.

whitecrook, wouldn't you rather have a big screwdriver and a pry bar in your tool shed instead of just one or the other? I could have a simple use for it now, but later down the line, I might want to use it for something more complicated or be able to open an existing complex file or need to use a Word alternative. I would rather have all the bases covered from the start, than install one app now and then find I require another one (or more) later on.

For argument's sake, what would you suggest if, let's say all I needed was an Excel alternative that meets all the requirements in my original post, for basic mathematical calculations and also involving referencing other cells using multiple 'IF' statements with results possibly using conditional formatting?

Sorry didnt mean to upset, but this sounds like a case of ‘XY problem’ to me.

Why cant you just use excel? Its free and works offline and should do basic if statememts.

This version of Excel is built for phones and tablets (with a screen size of 10.1 inches or smaller). On those devices, you can view, create, and edit Excel spreadsheets for free. You need a qualifying Office 365 subscription to use advanced features. Learn more at www.office.com/information.</quote>

So according to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/mic...you can, subscription to use advanced features.

You can create edit view for free as long as your phone is smaler than 10” ??

whitecrook, doesn't that need registering a Microsoft account?

As mentioned, I am looking for something that can simply be downloaded and used without any registrations, etc.

Besides, not a huge fan of the following methods.

I have also come across OnlyOffice, however, haven't looked into it thoroughly as yet.

So, so far, the answer to my original question of whether there is something that meets my requirements (apart from the ones I've mentioned) seems to be no.

Thank you for replying. I think I will try Collabora and see how it goes, but be expecting me back if it doesn't go well! Haha.

You need a play account as well. Did not realise ‘no registrations’ was a requirement.

Good luck with search.

Thank you, whitecrook. Sorry, forgot to mention registration in my original post. I thought 'subscription' would cover that, but should've stated it separately. Yes, some online registration is just unavoidable, for example, registering to post here, haha, but I like to keep it to a bare minimum.

I went ahead and installed Collabora Office, but haven't played with it properly yet (tested A1+B1, haha), so too early to say, but it seems quite nice.

Jupiter, thank you for your suggestion, I think I might need to Quack what that entails!
