Excel - creating a formula from the value of another cell

Any know if its possible for Excel to create a formula from the value of another cell. e.g.: something like A1=SUM(B"value in D1":B"value in E1"), so that if i change the values in D1 or E1 the formula in A1 changes and SUMS up different cells.
