In excel when I click file nothing happens, the rest of the toolbar works fine.

The document is responding, but the mouse wheel will not scroll the document

I can copy data but when I try and paste everything into a new document it comes up with an error about resources. I can copy small amounts of data into a new document fine though.

also when I window the document and then full screen it goes black and I occasionally get a resource error.

This has happened to me twice on two different machines both in the same office. (using office 2010)

one of the sheets this has happened to is pretty large with about 100k entries, the other much smaller with only about 10k, nothing unusual.

Hmm not sure then. At first I thought you might be exceeding some of Excels built in limits (which can be annoying if you hit them - thankfully Excel 2013 increases most of those limits).

Had similar problems myself.

Best solution (although not always guaranteed to work) is to force Excel to rebuild it dependancy tree using CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+F9 thensave the file as a completely new file.
