Hi Guys,

having a problem with excel and I'm hoping that you all can help!

An excel spreadsheet is created from the logs of some telnet sessions, this puts a capital 'C' at the top of the worksheet.
When you try to open the worksheet Excel says 'Cannot Open Protected File' and won't let you do anything. However, if you open the spreadsheet in notepad and remove the 'C' excel will then open the file.

I need to know if there is a fix or workaround to allow the spreadsheet to be opened with the 'C' in place as it's not practical from me to remove the 'C' everything the file is created (due to it being created in a series of macros)

Any help would be really good as it's sending me up the wall!

Cheers

Kev

/Edit:

Tis Excel 2003 and patched with the latest office service pack.

the telnet is being created in MHAT and the file is being saved as an .xls. The user on the box has admin privalige level
Logs are being saved locally and the privalige level on the folder is set to everyone has full access

MHAT is Multiple Host Automated Telnet.

Not sure what affect saving the file as a CSV would have on the macros that should be run on it.

This is that it worked for ages and then all of a sudden the file won't open. - No Know changes or updates made to the box
