Excel Shading

Can anyone help me with shading in an excel table? I want to be able to shade rows inside a table by clicking on the row number and only the row up to the table end to be shaded, if I do it at the moment it shades the whole row including the row without data and I just want it to look tidy.

Selecting a row number will always select the full row. If you're just after a quick way of filling in cells then shift + Ctrl + right arrow will highlight cells to the last cell that holds a value.

If that's not what you're after then we might need a screenshot of an example.
