Hello,

a colleague at work has password protected a spreadsheet tab & cells so data can not be written over.
However we need to amend the data as the rate have changed and he is not being helpful with the password, by saying he can not remember ! !

So is there any way I can get around password protection in Excel ?

many thanks

There are free but not exactly above board ways to crack a password protected Excel file ... some searching on torrent sites will help you out...

Plenty of password crack applications out there - just google Excel brute force
The downside to this is that by "brute force" they mean v-e-r-y s-l-o-w, you will need a supercomputer if the password is any good at all.

Quite by chance, I do believe that Overclockers UK sell some pretty powerful hardware that might be of some assistance here :D

I guess you didnt read my reply then?

Hi, I have read your reply. I should mention I can not install any new software at work. However I can always bring the offening xls home and have a crack at it !

At work I have copied the tabs, the spreadsheet, renamed it, cut & pasted certian cells. However the password protected cells still remain !
