I was doing a count of the amount of Intel CPUs I've bought since 2011 for personal purposes.

I came up with 23.

Anybody got higher? For personal proposes, not including home business.

EDIT: miscounted, actually only 22

Were you testing the overclock potential then replacing to get a faster one? Otherwise I can't fathom why you would need so many in such a short span of time.

I've went through 3 CPU's in that time.

2 CPUs since 2008. Any more would be a stupid waste of money. Does exactly the same thing as its predecessor, just a tiny bit faster. Bought the 965BE in 2008-2009 and it showed its age last year. Upgraded to a 8320 and it's perfect for what I use it for. Should last me at least another 3-4 years. Bought the 965 2nd hand for £60 and the 8320 also 2nd hand for around £80 if memory serves right. Selling the 965 now and the bidding is reaching £49 already. If I sell it for that, I would've lost £11 and got 6 years use out of it.

Not sure on dates or how far back, but ive owned the following so far.

i7 920
i7 930
i5 3570k
i7 3770k
i7 4770k
i7 4790k x2

Since 2008 that I can remember about 4 or 5 (minus AMD ones :D):

Q6600
Q9550
i7-4770K

Don't really see a need to go through so many.

Im guessing the op has perhaps been binning chips for benchmarking. On say Hwbot for example, people will go through many chips to get that real good one. Or they bench a mix of components to garner more points.

Hmm, I miscounted. Seems there was only 22.

I've had the C2D E8400, then I went over to AMD for the Phenom 955 Black Edition, then this Pentium G3258. So three in the last however many years.
