Exchange 2003 Mail Display Name

Just a quick simple question, but it's doing my head in

Got asked today to change the display name that is shown when you send an email out. Ie mail comes from [email protected] and this needs to be shown as the display name instead of john smith etc.

It's sbs 2003 r2 with exchange 2003 and i've tried everything, i have to be missing something very obvious here but i cant see the wood for the trees

open properties for the user in AD, should be on the general page

Looks like ive got it by the way, doing some testing using virtual machines. You need to untick "preserve senders display name on message" in global settings and internet message formats. Seems to work as long as you have service pack 2 installed
