Hey guys, trying to assist a customer with the new nokia lumia 610 handsets we have provided to them. They are running an exchange 2003 email environment with pretty high security, however we are having problems connecting the nokia, windows 7.5 mobiles to the exchange server.

We add the email address and password and click sign in - obviously it fails and asks for more advanced settings, domain, server, username etc - filled all of this in and get this error 80072F0D - a problem with a certificate in my understanding.

I tried the same process on my personal lumia 920 with windows 8 rather than 7.5 and it works pretty much instantly with identical settings.

It seems to be trickier than first thought to get this working.

My customer is pretty IT savvy so I got him to sign into OWA with his exchange account and then use IE to download the certificate in DER format, set up a gmail account on the 610 in question and mail the certificate through.

At this point the phone confirms that the certificate has been installed, we tried to add the email account now the certificate had been added but still it fails :(

Apparently another work around may be to create an A-record for the server, but the customer has some security concerns to using autodiscover and doesn't like it, personally I think autodiscover is fine but he'd rather try and get the certificate idea working first, could anyone possibly shed any light on this at all?

Cheers :)

Not having much luck with this, apparently another option for it is creating an A-name/autodiscover record on the exchange serverand installing a certificate or TXT file.

I really have no idea how this works, could any one shed some light on it?

Except 2003 know's nothing about autodiscover. Autodiscover came with Exchange 2007 onwards.

I don't know about WP7 but I would imagine you could tell it to just ignore the SSL. If your really stuck get a free cert from StartSSL

****, so their current system will not support using autodiscover? :( I'm running out of options to get these lumia's working with their dated software

Windows phones like their certificates served up in a variety of ways.
The Windows 7 phones only like .p7b files in my experience, and the easiest way to get it onto the phone is emailing it to a webmail account and install it from there.
